Bianca just arrived at the most frightening place she ever went to, the Evernight Academy. The place where the children are beautiful, graceful, and overall—rich. Bianca knows that she’s unlike the rest but doesn’t leave. Then, she meets Lucas Ross. He’s unlike the rest, too. Bianca really likes him for that. In her pursuit of him, she discovers a part of herself that she never knew existed.

Once I started reading Evernight, I couldn’t put it down. I finished it as quickly as I could. I was absolutely engulfed in the action! Evernight was an excellent book with a wonderful Romeo-Juliet style romance plot. I believe any teen that liked Twilight will absolutely love Evernight.

Kelley Winslow is a seventeen-year-old living in New York City. She is living part of her dream, having an acting career. The down side: she’s an understudy. Tragically, the lead actor twists her ankle, and Kelley steps in to play the lead, Titania the Fairy Queen in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. When she meets a mysterious stranger in Central Park, she discovers that faeries are much more real then she’s would have imagined, even in her wildest dreams. The encounter leaves her falling in to a wild adventure, and possibly a deadly one.

Sonny Flannery, a member of the Janus Guard, lives ‘peacefully’ in the Otherworld, or the Realm of the Faeries, except for Halloween week when the gate between the two worlds opens. That’s because he’s one of the Janus Guard, assigned to defend the ‘Mortals’ by Auberon, the King of Winter, from what comes out of the other realm.

Kelley and Sonny are drawn to each other and their relationship could bring both worlds crashing down.

I loved this book. It was filled with adventure! There was something different on every page.

I was very impressed with Livingston’s characterization of Sonny. It was easy to understand how unhappy he was with his life. I could also actually relate to Kelley because a lot of things in life are confusing.

Plus, the book was very well thought out. The plot complex. And she did a very good job with the surprises. I was as shocked as Kelley throughout the book. Then, the ending was completely unexpected and very emotional.

It started in Willow Hill in Alaska, a girl named Jessie’s “boyfriend”, Jake Reid, was caught cheating on Jessie with a girl named Evie. They were holding hands, laughing, and throwing pale white snowballs at each other. So, they broke up.

Shortly after that, she used a charming young man named Will to try and win him back. One of the most popular, pretty, and miss know-it-all girl in Willow Hill grew extremely jealous and angry at her. Then, Jessie’s two best friends, Abby and Erin, practically celebrated Sabrina’s jealousy.  It was their goal to make her jealous and for Jessie to win the Annual Best Costume Contest at the Northern Lights Ball, so they could rub it in her face.

Did I have a favorite character?

Yes, I chose Will mainly because he was so helpful and straightforward about everything. In this book he like, absolutely had no secrets to hide and seemed so confident about everything, all the time.

If I could relate to any of the characters it would have to be Erin. In the book she doesn’t like to wear anything dressy, she takes up for her friends, and doesn’t date at all as far as I can tell.  Although, I am not exactly like her. I do every so often like to wear skirts and maybe get a little dressed up, but I’m definitely not all “I never will even lay eye’s on one dressy item.

Which part of the book did I like best?

Ok, I would have to say when Jessie, Will, Jake, and Evie went to the mountains to ski. The time Jake and Jessie spent together, watching the Northern Lights—I mean I could just picture it clearly in my mind, and to tell you the truth that has to be one of the most beautiful things that I have ever imagined while reading a story.

Which part did I like least?

Probably the part where Jessie and Abby go to the ball, and she and Will dance. That’s because when it’s time to go see the Northern Lights, it was to cloudy and they couldn’t see them. Instead, they stood outside freezing to death just waiting for them to come.

If I would want to change any part of the story, It would be when they couldn’t see the Northern Lights at the Northern Lights Ball.

I would definitely recommend this book to all my friends, family, and just about everyone in the world that love’s teen romance.
